Message to OCD number one paitent - reckon I found out that my bus is whats called an SO-62 Westfalia... I've seen one on http://www.roadhouseretro.com/
It's an earlier model but just too similar to mine... there's is no.2 in the production run... see piccy
Quite possible as you did have a westy tailgate, but westy tended to go for walkthrough models on their later convertions. Chris has a book with what i think yourscould be it was a targa conversion or some thing - had a complete unit plus a buddy seat behind the removed bulkhead.
ReplyDeleteAah but that one I posted specifically said it was a non walk through westie! check the web link...
ReplyDeleteWould still like to see Chris's book tho' :)
ReplyDeleteI had one of those: 1970 Westy, same poptop, non-walkthrough.
ReplyDeleteI felt that it was underbraked and didn't like the non-walkthrough, so I got a 1971 Westy.
Yeah I bet the earlier models suffered on the braking - apparently they only had the power of a beetle's brakes. Mine's a 78 with servo and discs up front, I've done a bit of upgrading (new calipers, braided hoses and drilled discs) so it stops well now. Oh and whoever had it before cut out the bulkhead and replaced with tubed steel so it is now a walkthrough! kind of 'em
ReplyDeleteWesties are definatly the way to go though, best conversions by far.
