S3 Audi Recaro's in VW TYPE 2

New Recaro's for the bus. Cheers Gary and Ben for helping out grabbing them. Good run out in the buses regardless....despite my engine not running too great felt like I was in a Porsche on the way home....just need a bigger engine to suits the seats now  😆

Aluminium door cards Type 2 VW

rivet inserts were a bit of trail and error and despite aligning all the drill holes on an old door still a few misaligned. Looks the business though

Stanford Hall 2014

Ready for the off .. Stanford Hall here we come. 5 miles up the road and the rear drums seize on. Quick wheel and drum off, dispose of the spacer bar and handbrake compensator (must get new one of those). Onward again, near Uppingham now and can't find gears, first second then only third...odd, quick consult of the manual and some literally rolling adjustment crunching gears through quaint little market town of Market Harborough, did I mention the plumes of smoke every time we stopped from the small leak on rocker covers leaking oil onto nice hot heat exchangers. Finally up hill on the windiest road the gears finally gave out, from 4 to 0, I was waving the gear selector around like a cutlass....nothing. Quick check oh yeah the gear selector grubber screw (a very unique thread and point little bit) has fallen off and the gear coupling is not coupling. Now if only in a biscuit tin of assorted nuts we could find something to fit....Karma smiles on us 1 rusty but serviceable grubber screw. Gears now all 4. Made it to the show couple of wrong turns nothing more serious than that. Great to see all the dubbers and the gang of OCD Massive. On the way home brakes looked again or at least cooked for awhile down the A14. Swift adjustment and cool down the drums bobs your uncle home to Snorefolk.

Miles: unknown speedo was working but not the odometer it seems.

Breakdowns: about 10.

Carling don't do the Volkswagen scene...they couldn't hack it!

Passed 3rd May 2014

OCD MASSIVE

So good even the butcher came out and said he was impressed. Amazing that we made the MOT let alone passed, we were still putting wheels on and doing up castle nuts at 11h45. Then couldn't get second gear all the way to the MOT centre. Good ole AVR held the slot and didn't fault her on a thing....few minor adjustments allowed.
Well chuffed and massive thanks to the OCD1 and Magu for all your help and wiring especially.

Mission control is taking shape

Mr Magu's neat and tidy wiring and soldering

Glass in .... to louvre or not to louvre

Couldn't decide on the louvre or the flat glass....mixed feedback 'too fussy', 'jail van, 'retro'....I didn't think it was as clean as the flat glass as I'm after simplicity in this bus, having said that if it's a scorcher this summer and I'm sat swelteri g in a traffic jam I may yet rue the day?

Spaghetti.....its all fucking spaghetti to me

Doors ready for final fitting then top coat....

After a few tips from Danny had a bit more confidence on the rears of the doors...started with a low pressure 3bar, trigger at about 1/5 of full with about 1.5 turns out on the fan setting. Started with powdery coat and then applied little at a time. Long as it's still tacky you can keep putting it on. I need more paint in a few places but in some areas have got some nice shiny and tough looking finish. Pretty pleased, and hopefully in a week or so it'll be the final top coat with a pro at the helm. Full spraying masterclass for OCD will be coming soon stay tuned.

Spraying in a confined area.

I became transfixed when watching this video, how many times does he hit the body work!!! ;) Spraying in a confined area like an engine bay is really tricky, not quite as bad as trying to paint the underside and chassis on your back!!!
ONE MAN AND HIS ENGINE BAY.

Back of the passenger side front door painted ...

The Mausgrau looking very nice and grey now I'm painting doors and I've got some natural light to work by. Infrared lights scavenged from a skip make a huge difference to the heat in the shed now, thanks to OCD1 for sorting those out.
