So this morning the notion of being air cooled had been taken to the limit.















After a few hours work with cutters and the now infamous joggler Magoo is starting to look much better now!

Sarted on the mig welding and have achieved the flush panel we wanted.

Rear guard.
















So.......we have ignition and blast......Nice work almost true to the original construction.....
The detail to repair the inner edge of the battery tray joint took a good hours work using only a set of snips and a loose bench vice!! and of course the joggler!!





















looks solid dude just now needs some fiber filler and 3m 2pack shultz for the inner wheel arch....





























if you look at the other side it looks identical other than this side is shiny solid steel!!!!!


well other than all the shit youve still got to remove before we paint anything. A heat gun and a soft spatular is all you need, no scatching the original paint!!!
I still need to weld in the battery tray but i might get it done first thing in the morning!!!

More progress, and then theres tomorrow!

Finally started on the front valance with Gaz, some tricky welding needed under the finishing strip on front panel but will be possible. Also started to look closer at the closing side plates and then front wheel arches!!!

Agreed value sorted!

Bit of good news on the agreed value, after much deliberation and demands for more pictures etc etc have managed to get Adrian Flux to agree Hempy's value at 10k i.e. cost for replacement. Here's the pics that swung it in the end...

When time becomes a loop, when time becomes a loop

So I finally have had to do a little "treatment" on my original rear wheelarches.......................well better a bit patchy than just a bit left! Original wellers back on again.....good old bouncy ride again!! Good old jemolite and some zinc primer from halfords. Did I not say about the tiny bit of fiberfiller??

It all started as a small bubble in the paint and then it grew......Its actually caused by the water entering the air vent then hanging off the inside of the swage line bend. I felt down inside the air vent and you can feel the rusty surface............just got to work out how to get to it!!

Details: This former panelvan has been sitting for a long time, so needs the running gear checked. (brakes, steering, engine) The underside of the body is almost rustfree. Only thing needing fixed are the jackpoints. But no nasty surprises! No underbody protection, so what you see is what you get. The cargo floor is amazingly rustfree and without dents. £5500.Also in Holland.












Or in Boston UK we have this 65 walkthrough so42 westfalia camper for £6500. Again appears to be very honest in its first appearence, and is possible to visit this bus for closer inspection. LHD

Elcies new college mate!!






Hopefully we will soon have a new member for the OCD, althought a little younger than the rest of us he does own a beautiful Danbury. If you look closely at the number plate although a P plate at first glance she proudly displays 08......as in 2008. Of course she is a Mexico, but i have driven her and she is very SMOOTH, watercooled polo engine (hence the double spare wheel carriers) factory lowered with empi 5s, chrome bumpers and all the refinement inside as to the standard of all modern Type 5s. Not quite trouble free and still has lots of original querks such as oil mist and wondering around in side winds!! He needs some advice from Gary as to fitting power steering for his wife.
