Lucia, Old Timer!

Rob was Born in 1948ish and has recently celebrated his birthday.

Lucia is his baby and was born in 1954ish and also looks as good if you ignore the pheasant.

She used to deliver White Goods (fridges washing machines) in Italy until she became the daily pub runner for Bob The Rookie, carrying bike and other asorted life style equipment!

Jim and Darren have been busy on Ruby. Hacking away with angle grinders and a cheap set of blades to cut original Panzer Steel floor pan out. Will be a proper job nodoubt if you got the Jimbob on the Job!!!

Garys progress..

Garys got better pictures than me, but he hasn't shown them to the World as yet. They show what is it? Offside? rear wheel arch and lower sill repair.
Nice joggled edges and some solid spot welds here...

Arch Rival Welded

Another busy evening today... We tacked the arch in place, stuck her door back on to check the fit and with a bit of presure to the inner top of the arch she ligned up a treat ;)

Took no time to get the welder setup and the progress was quick....

Bit messy to look at now, but with a touch of gentle grinding and seam sealent it'll look like a factory job. Nice coating of zinc primer under all the edges should give the steel a chance under the stone chip and sealent.

A bit of an anyoying seam unveiled itself to us, but this tapped back nicely and it sits flush to the door and upper b pillar.
The carpet tuck is perfect and again, after some gentle grinding, will look as good as the factory job.
Worth every hour of hard slog and the extra cash for a genuine arch! Would reccomend it to anyone considering a cheaper repro!

Of interest to Gary I believe. When cleaning down darrens new/old arch I managed to retain a tidy outer edge of the upper tub. with an additional cut we can cover your seam weld and create a carpet tuckand the original look.

Builders bum or is it a bus bum or a gangster spray look????

Lucielle sees the light of day after a cold winter!

Nearly new original front wheel arch from Stanford Hall.....£80.
Four hours later, the base of an A pillar salvaged and ready to start offering up.

Zinc primered, trimmed and ready.Fits purfect!!! as you would only expect...its VW after all?

A pillar outer skin welded in and ground back....

Inner detail so tidy easy to seam seal.

Inner sills all painted and arch ready...welding on Monday night.

Front clip still needs fibre filler and regular filler plus some loweer welding but you get the picture, right?

Mr. Darren looked smiley all day long.....good things come to those who wait and all that!!! ;)
