Rebuild Started

 With  new acoustic sound deadening fitted above the engine bay.

 Need to get a front beam ball joint replaced so only one front side  fitted up completely.

 A large amount of the electrics in and partially connected up so far so good.

 Team work. Failed delivery from JK....their poor effort held us up loads!!

VW Camper Unwrapped

 Hello!!

 It was like that Christmas feeling when your a kid, unwrapping it!!

 mmmmmmm.

 Fitted some side belly pans with the new stainless steel bolt on style.

Could not resist fitting the new Westy window as its just a push fit. So far I am one very happy bunny and I feel that she will ready start to speed up as a project.

Second Coat

 all prepared and ready for paint.

 Wow, i can see the shed in this!!

 you would never know the mess and pain this little bus has been through!!

A slight orange peel to the surface but its not settled or dried yet, only the morning will tell. I am very happy though, no runs at all. So 2000 grade and a couple of blemishes to sort out,  so the weekend should bring refit!!!! The only question now is whether or not not add a third coat?

A Little Tease.

 So a little taste of things to come, it was so easy refitting it even put a little copper slip on the bolts. Good for another life!!!

It is going to look so clean, and simple. Just got a million bungs, grommets and clips to buy now!! Neil I am going to need that original upper suspension bolt back.

Snowed Under

 Got home last night having driven from Oxford to Lynn to find the Beetle snowed under. Its going to take some digging tomorrow to get rolling.

Place of First Registration

So the origins are here of the first place of registration for UK vehicles.
Gary - KU = Sheffield (way north of the Watford Gap)
Neil - WG = Portsmouth (nice and salty)
My Beetle - UR  = Herts
My Camper - CE = Peterborough
The Comma - WG = Stirling
All that information on a number plate hey. On the subject of Number plates it looks as if my beetle Vin has never been registered in the UK and they want to issue me with brand new age related plates making ME the FIRST registered keeper  since 1972??!!! How mad is that, it suggests that I owned it a year before I was born.

Can a VW restoration project ever be beyond possible?

 Found in a Fjord in Norway, being lifted out of the water. Divers and cranes required.

This van was apparently dumped by its owner in 1973 and recovered recently. Can you imagine what it looks like now with an oxygen rich atmosphere? The new owner intends to restore it??? Not one for me that's for sure!!!!
