Split Resto

Inner tubs although very bitten with rust are quite good other than the edges.

Rear cross member is shot, but the front one is a new.
Seems to be full of Italian sand!!

Front brake system removed, all the hard lines so far are all good but the flexi hoses are perished (get Goodrich SS braided replacements). Master cylinder is off. Both front back plates are off and good. All cylinders look OK but the boots are perished. Shocks off all feel dead (get Gas shocks) and every bolt so far is seized on!! Been using diesel as suggested does work well.
The rust is just falling off this bus - she is the grubbiest, greasiest and rustiest bus so far, but will be worth every pound of investment. ;)

1962 VW Split Screen Panel Van Restoration

So finally started on the Split Screen. I noticed the tax disc read 30/07/10!!! So shes been awaiting a while. Shes gather a little dust while being covered.

4 hours later we have all doors off, all glass out , all lights out, front bumper off, and all plywood floors out (50 odd wood screws straight through the floor!!)

GOOD NEWS no rust on windscreen frames.
BAD News lower front is rotten all the way around, that and the pheasant post impact I think a new font lower clip is required.
No near side step or lower A post.
O/S front wing and entire lower previous repair panel gone.

Inner cargo floor holed on O/S.
 Inner wheel arch N/S.
 Rear wheel arches look good.

 Showing use in floor ripples.
My biggest worry so far. Chassis rail connection to front valace rotten. And front valance rotten too.
 O/S front inner valance,
 N/S inner valance.
There is more filler on the lower sections of this bus than there is metal!!!!!mmmmmmmm

Lifestyles 2012

So a good turn out and some nice weather also, Loads of positive feedback on both the aircooled and the Subaru watercooled!!!
My engine seemed to draw interest to those over 40 and Garys all the GTI heads and youth - they already believe in Japanese!!!
I had loads of interest in the aps touch that has spurred me on to completing the interior.
My favorite other bus was the wonderful split in grey, very nice!!
Rather cool Karman Ghia with a very narrowed beam and on the ground!!

Two young fish n chip faces!!
