Final R1 mods.

A close up of the anti vibration mount , utilising the original bumper mount hole.

The sound in this video still does not do it justice, it has to be heard in real time to appreciate the full sound. I was driving at around 40mph with my windows closed and i could hear birds singing!!!!! It is sooo quiet, it purrs.

R1 campervan

Cold start.

So a basic the R1 cans have been tapped and the extra stainless bolts required to support the horizontal and secure the end caps are all fitted. The main manifold bolts are now stainless with crush copper nuts. The straps have been wrapped around the cans further down as it perfectly alligns with the inner bumper bolt to which it is now connected. I initially used this as a quick fix but now believe connected here with the rubber vibration bolt thing will be purrrrrfect!!! I also have a copper manifold to xaust gasket (i made it) so am strill evaluating this....but it was making some really mad grumbling sounds throught town tonite!!!!!R1 VW Kombi RULES!!!

Hot idle.

Sorry videos play good sound but poor visual...so i have included a couple a pics showing a little more (dark) the blue stainless looks brilliant! The tow hook has been cut off but can be welded back with some simple mods

R1 Camper Madness

So initially we had a small problem of the tow hook on the bumper iron being just 5cm too low.....easy fix really (I hope!!!!).......Chris and specialist support and me filming of course!

WOW.......................thats what you now call the Bastard look!!! It now looks like my engine is actually two crashed R1s stuffed up the back!!! With the engine hatch open it looks very mean!! Still got to fit the support straps so cant really yet fully comment on performance as such.....it hit the clock so no problems there!!! It sounds very volkswagen :)
