Final Split Screen Restoration Post

Its all a rebuild project now, off to the paint shop asap!!!
Exterior door hinges seam sealed where they are riveted to the door, also stone chip to lower front valance.
The interior if full of goodies, ready for colour, most of this has been stone chipped like the fuel tank and interior floor.
Carpet chucked in to protect all.
Rear valance patched up for now....a simple metal plate loads of seam sealer on the rear, fiber and filler on front then all round with stone chip.

Interior is looking good with those cargo doors on...its so Aircraft inside.
Ready to roll...............

Big end gone, need funds quick! Who wants a Caravelle GL 2.1 Auto?

Finally stuck the silver machine up for sale on eBay :(  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301792338288

With that big CJ engine matched to the auto box, it's had little wear. Ripe for an LPG conversion.

The big end went on the Syncro last week, so it's costing over £1,250 to get a re-manufactured AAZ engine from AW Engineering in Lancs, then £750 to be installed and tested by Lindley Engineering in Basford. Both highly recommended, but you get what you pay for! This means we'll have a decent reliable and simple TD in the syncro for our expeditions... Who fancies a trip up to Scotland this winter to test it out?!?

Oh, and yes, the bullbar is coming off the caravelle and going on the pickup! I'm resisting temptation to nick the square lights, but it would ruin the van!

Beetle Kraft Werk

Got a decent gauge of pressing, but with modern square cut steering box hole......
Nose inner really is bad with the front frame mounts really bitten into.....
Chop the new panel apart and save as much of your classic wagon as possible....Fundamental law.
 So all sold and sealed.

Finally primed the inside of the bonnet area....looking very clean now.

Pushing Ahead

seam sealer washed in with solvent
 Passenger door overhauled seamsealed etc.
Started on door filler work including cargo.
 Really taking shape now.
Decided to cut the original upper panel seal in and seal it, the clean the vents back to metal saving time on the clean down. Top vent shows layers of paint!
 Bumper getting attention also.
Engine deck lid inner primed and sealed, needs sealing inside the engine bay area.

Undersides ready for some stone chip seal.

Body Werk Prep

A good detail of the floor, shown here, chunky seam sealer around the floor and posts.
Starting to really flatten down the joins now.

These are not the best pictures, or the latest, but show some progress.

Nissen Hut Extension

The remains of the front wall (demolished by tractor) has been laid as hardcore then blinded with sand and dpm down, shuttering all ready.
Stripped off the outer skin already up and added a dormer window and doorway.
Mixed with a baby mixer this time, a lot more work than pre mixed, but easy enough.

Added a slopped step for the doorway also.
The pottery is taking shape quickly now, should get the outer skin on by the weekend and plan to do the outer timber wall over half term!!!
