Ready for the off .. Stanford Hall here we come. 5 miles up the road and the rear drums seize on. Quick wheel and drum off, dispose of the spacer bar and handbrake compensator (must get new one of those). Onward again, near Uppingham now and can't find gears, first second then only third...odd, quick consult of the manual and some literally rolling adjustment crunching gears through quaint little market town of Market Harborough, did I mention the plumes of smoke every time we stopped from the small leak on rocker covers leaking oil onto nice hot heat exchangers. Finally up hill on the windiest road the gears finally gave out, from 4 to 0, I was waving the gear selector around like a cutlass....nothing. Quick check oh yeah the gear selector grubber screw (a very unique thread and point little bit) has fallen off and the gear coupling is not coupling. Now if only in a biscuit tin of assorted nuts we could find something to fit....Karma smiles on us 1 rusty but serviceable grubber screw. Gears now all 4. Made it to the show couple of wrong turns nothing more serious than that. Great to see all the dubbers and the gang of OCD Massive. On the way home brakes looked again or at least cooked for awhile down the A14. Swift adjustment and cool down the drums bobs your uncle home to Snorefolk.
Miles: unknown speedo was working but not the odometer it seems.
Breakdowns: about 10.
Carling don't do the Volkswagen scene...they couldn't hack it!
