polishing aluminium??

,

so i have achieved a westy window from fleabay, and have dismantled it, ala picys. now has anyone done any major ali polishing in the past?? any tips or products you found to be superior to others?? dependant on product, and how much it cuts i might take the glass out and do individual pieces. more work but probably a better finish. not looking for mirror finish (unless its easily achieved) but shiny is preferable to white ali corrosion and chassis black paint :-)

thoughts please

  1. If it's oxidised I'd just use wire wool (varying the grade depending on level of oxidisation) Lubricate with suitable metal polish, older more traditional brands are genrally better I reckon. Problem is it will oxidise again pretty quickly so probably only worth spending a little time on it and not dismantling to the 'nth degree. Like you say not looking for a mirror finish... Good luck dude!

  2. Meant to say, marine products are usually very good!

  3. No wire wool yet unless heavily oxidized. You joust need good old brasso and some serious cotton polish. You might think about some small drill mops for this..just cotton and brasso till it goes black and you can get it like mirror plus a clear laquer of course!!!
