Fitting a Vintage Speed Exhaust

Remove the old 4 into 1 manifold.
This exhaust was scrapped by my mate and I welded it back up and drove it to destruction. Sounded BAD.
Nice detail of studs for bolts, also note the elongated slot to allow for engine size adjustment.
Very nice kit to work with, best quality.

First start up and running sluggish cold and damp.
Just back from test drive - bus is running rich from previous poor system. The improvements in all qualities are amazing........need more time to evaluate it but its frickin good so far....big grins on the road!!!!

Vintage Speed Exhaust VW T2

I finally did it and got myself a vintage speed sports muffler for the heating option.
Arrives all sealed and very well packaged.
 Happiness in a box!!
Full polish on the outlet pipe, and brushed stainless on the main muffler box.
The quality is amazing, with machine and hand welded sections. The gauge is very good and it has some real weight to it.
Again best quality gaskets for the exhaust outlets, must get more gaskets for the heads from VS.
This is genius as it allows you to adjust the width of the engine so that one size fits all stock to 2.0 ltr.+
Again the attention to detail is brilliant with internal baffles just like a stock VW has for the beetle.
I am a very happy boy and I cant wait to get started on fitting it, in fact I will go and strip off the rusted to death old blown 4 into 1 EMPI box right now, with a beer maybe!!

A Perfect Storm

Sun Shines on.....!!!!!

Split screen new front clip

Under detail showing the drilled holes weld from above - good bite.
Ground back and sanded with a first coating of glass fiber filler on the upper join.
No close ups yet, but a taster.
 Mad chopping session. Floor out.
 Nice top hats........................
Rear top hat not to bad...................................

Still need to tuck under the original floor to give that last lift to the front corner.
 Old meets new....
Man there's a lot of work still.

Rust Restore / Preventative Treatment

OCD collective

Advice please -

1) What's the best metal treatment for rust? There seems to be loads on the market and need to know what is best recommendation.

2) Once Treated what is your recommendations for preventing it from returning? Is Zinc spray paint any good?

3) Paint for Chassis parts - Which paint is best for black chassis parts (front beam etc)

Let me know what you have used and what works?

A Taste Of Finish.

So finally got round to sealing off the end wall, matching the dark brown/green creosote finish of the side window cheeks.

Had some wonderful weather this weekend, here in Norfolk.
New interior wall finished in 12mm ply wood. Just hung up Garys old 1976 front clip with the Heathrow airport sign.
