Rust Restore / Preventative Treatment

OCD collective

Advice please -

1) What's the best metal treatment for rust? There seems to be loads on the market and need to know what is best recommendation.

2) Once Treated what is your recommendations for preventing it from returning? Is Zinc spray paint any good?

3) Paint for Chassis parts - Which paint is best for black chassis parts (front beam etc)

Let me know what you have used and what works?

Steve

  1. Best treatment for rust is Jenolite, its the strongest grade of nitric acid you can get for vehicle, used by the MOD.
Any zinc primer is good, zinc 182 is very goo. Some say to use etch primer but I believe its only necessary on galvanized metals.
Tetrosyl black chassis paint is very good to brush on. Just always make sure you jenolite, leave until dry, power wire brush again and repeat. Then use a good panel wipe to remove any more greases. Jobs a good un!!!

  3. Thanks. Could not find any tetrosyl chassis paint. Any ideas for an alternative which stands the test of time and climate. It will need to be a brush on and don't like hammerite.
